Aims and Objectives
• Participating and doing charitable work.
• Organizing local and international conferences to discuss vital health issues.
• Working together with other Health Training Institutions to improve the health situation of the local population.
• Provide psychological support to the traumatized.
• Generally encourage the community to support government programs which reduce health risks.
• To safeguard the interests and promote the welfare of all medical students in Gulu University.
• Act as a link between the medical students, the staff and the university authorities in order to provide healthy environment for the pursuit of mutual interest.
• To seek participation and representation in or on all organs of the faculty of medicine and the university administration in matters affecting GUMSA or its members.
• To work in close solidarity with the other students’ organization and to establish such working and friendly relationship and the understanding with other external organizations, when, where and while desirable.
• To cultivate worthy qualities among members and train and prepare them for the noble profession.
• To promote medical education in Uganda, East Africa, Africa, and World at large.
• Negotiate with any Government or governments in matters affecting GUMSA.
• To contribute positively to the university campus life.
• To publish Gulu Medical Journal at least once a year.
